Heavy equipment being lifted into the back of a Willow Alexander van
Service · Large Item Collection

Pianos, wardrobes, American fridges, safes and garden furniture. Measured against the access before we book, then moved with the proper equipment rather than hope and a strap.

Vetted, trusted crews

Every mover is DBS-checked, reference-verified and trained to our standard before they set foot in your home.

The same hands you'll recognise

The crew who pack your home are the crew who carry it. Nothing changes hands unrecorded.

Kind to home and family

Considered, low-tox products that respect delicate surfaces, children and pets, without compromising the finish.

How it works

Measured first. Always.

Almost every large-item job that goes wrong went wrong at the measuring stage. We check the item against the narrowest point of the route before we take the booking, not on the morning.

We measure the route

The item, then the narrowest point it has to pass - the doorway, the turn on the stairs, the lift car. Photos or a video call are usually enough.

We plan the method

Stair climber, straps, skates, or removing a door or a window. If it genuinely will not go, we tell you before you've paid anyone rather than after.

Moved and reinstated

Protected, moved and positioned. Doors rehung, handrails refitted and packaging taken away before we leave.

What's included

The kit that makes it possible.

Large items are a question of equipment and method rather than strength. Both are part of the price.

Access check

Route measured and photographed before the booking is confirmed, so nobody discovers the problem with the item halfway up the stairs.

Stair-climbing equipment

Powered stair climbers and skates for the heaviest pieces, so a safe or an upright goes up a flight safely rather than by brute force.

Doors & units removed

Doors off hinges, handrails unbolted, windows removed where that's the only route - then all of it put back properly.

Full protection

The item wrapped, and the route protected too. Floor runners, frame covers and corner guards go down before anything is lifted.

Two, three or four crew

Sized to the item and the route, not to a standard package. Some pieces need four people and a plan, and that's what turns up.

Old item taken away

If it's a replacement, the outgoing piece leaves with us. Licensed waste carrier, reused or recycled wherever possible.

What we move

Heavy, awkward, or genuinely irreplaceable.

The pieces that make people ring a removal firm for a single item.

Pianos

Uprights and grands, moved with piano-specific equipment and crew. Grands dismantled and crated where the route requires it.

Large appliances

American fridge-freezers, range cookers and commercial washers. Disconnected, moved, and reconnected where it's safe to do so.

Wardrobes & armoires

Solid, tall and rarely designed to come apart. Where they can be dismantled we will; where they can't, we plan the turn on the stairs.

Safes & gym equipment

Concentrated weight that most trolleys aren't rated for. Moved on skates and climbers with the floor loading considered first.

Garden & outdoor

Stone planters, sleepers, hot tubs, sheds and mature trees. Side access and ground protection planned as part of the job.

Art, sculpture & display

Large canvases, sculpture and cabinets. Crated to measure where the value or the fragility justifies it.

How we work

Honest about what will and won't go.

The most valuable thing we can tell you about a large item is sometimes that it won't fit.

We say no when it's no

If the item genuinely will not pass the staircase, you'll hear that at quote stage. A wasted call-out helps nobody, least of all your bannister.

Fully insured, properly

Comprehensive public liability cover on every collection. Certificates before booking.

Fixed price, sized to the job

Quoted on the item, the route and the crew it actually needs. No surcharge appearing once the team sees the stairs.

Carbon neutral by default

Electric vans, and verified offsets for the emissions we can't avoid. The same standard as every other service we run.

A direct line for measurements, access photos, or a straight answer on whether it will go up the stairs.

Choose the crew

Two, three, or a specialist team.

The right answer is decided at quote stage, from the weight and the route rather than from what you'd like it to be.

Two-person

Standard large items on straightforward routes - a wardrobe, a sofa, a large appliance on the level or up one flight.

Three or four-personRecommended

Heavy pieces, tight turns or multiple flights. More crew almost always costs less than the damage caused by too few.

Specialist

Pianos, safes and crated art, with the specific equipment those need and a crew trained to use it.

Every job is quoted after the access is measured, as one fixed figure including equipment, protection and reinstatement.

Questions

Things people often ask.

Will it fit up my stairs?
That's exactly what we establish before taking the booking. Send us the item's dimensions and photos of the narrowest point of the route, and we'll tell you honestly whether it will go - and if it won't, what the alternative is.
Can you move a piano?
Yes. Uprights and grands, with piano-specific equipment and a crew trained on them. Grands are dismantled and crated where the route requires it. Pianos are always quoted individually rather than priced from a list.
What if the item has to go through a window?
It happens, particularly with large sofas and pianos in period flats. We'll assess whether a window removal or an external lift is the right route, and price and arrange it as part of the job.
Do you take doors off to get it in?
Yes, routinely - doors off hinges, handrails unbolted, and occasionally a window unit removed. All of it is refitted properly before we leave.
Can you move just one item within my house?
Yes. Moving a piano between floors, a wardrobe to another room or gym equipment into a basement are common jobs. There's no requirement for the item to leave the property.
Will you take the old one away?
If it's a replacement, yes. We're a licensed waste carrier, so the outgoing item leaves with us and is reused, donated or recycled wherever it can be.
